Affluenza

Bubble Gum

In 1928, Walter Diemer was working as an accountant for the Fleer Chewing Gum Company. In his spare time he played around with new gum recipes. One day he made a gum batch that was less sticky but that stretched more easily. Bubble gum was born. The company sold over $1.5 million in bubble gum the first year.

What are you working on in your spare time?

Affluenza

A blend of 'affluence' and 'influenza'.

A social disease resulting from extreme materialism and excessive consumerism: earning more money and consuming more, which can lead to overwork, debt, waste, stress, anxiety, etc.
